Celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month and the Importance of Diversity in the Workplace

Based on newly released 2020 Census data published in a recent article by the Tri-City Herald, Benton and Franklin counties in Tri-Cities, WA, home of Elite headquarters, grew by 24% and 18% respectively. The increase in population of our cities means continued growth of the local economy, which is great news for all. In addition, the growth of the Hispanic population and other minority groups outpaced overall growth in both counties as the Tri-Cities becomes more diverse. According to the same article, Karl Dye, Chief Executive of the Tri-City Development Council, said “the growth and diversity in the community is a really good, positive thing” adding that “the more diverse we are, the stronger we are as a community.”

As a minority-owned business, Elite Construction + Development embraces diversity and inclusion as essential in business. This month, as we celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month, we recognize that employing people from different backgrounds and cultures provides us with the balance of voices and diversity of thought we need. It’s also important for our workforce to continue to mirror the make-up of the communities we serve. As stated by Elite’s Human Resources Manager, Chris Banks, “building diverse teams stands at the forefront of our plans to grow as a company. We are proud to lead the community in this area and will continue to make it a priority.”
